Finding South Australia's Social Enterprises
Adelaide Social Enterprise is keen to find South Australia's Social Enterprises.  This is because Adelaide Social Enterprise is supporting the establishment of a democratically elected peak body for social enterprises in South Australia that is similar to QSEC in Queensland and SENVIC in Victoria.  Once a South Australian peak body is formed, that peak body will run Adelaide Social Enterprise.

The first step in achieving this objective is to identify South Australia's social enterprises. If you have founded or if you represent a South Australian social enterprise - that fits the definition of a social enterprise provided below - Adelaide Social Enterprise would like to involve you in the development of the peak body for South Australia's social enterprises.  Could you please provide your contact details and a brief description of your social enterprise (including website) in the form at the bottom of this page.

Social Enterprise Definition
The social enterprise definition below is from the 2010 Finding Australia’s Social Enterprise Sector Research Project: Final Report.  It is widely used by governments, funders and practitioners across Australia.

‘Social enterprises are organisations that:
  • Are led by an economic, social, cultural, or environmental mission consistent with a public or community benefit;
  • Trade to fulfil their mission;
  • Derive a substantial portion of their income from trade; and
  • Reinvest the majority of their profit/surplus in the fulfilment of their mission’.
