Video 2: Active Listening How to be a greater listener |
|
Preparation Activity 1:
Find a partner. Pose a question about a sensitive community problem. Have one person talk for 4 minutes, in response to the question while the other person listens. The listener should demonstrate active listening through their body language and should only speak to increase their understanding of what is being said through paraphrasing or using the drawing people out technique. After 4 minutes reverse roles – the speaker becomes the listener and the listener becomes the speaker.
